New programme launched: GREENFIT - Green and Resilient Future Industrial Training

We are thrilled to announce the official start of GREENFIT – Green and Resilient Future Industrial Training, a 26-month Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership that aims to accelerate the green transition across Europe’s manufacturing industries through strategic vocational education and training.

As part of a dynamic consortium led by Middle East Technical University (Türkiye) and including Ankara Chamber of Industry (Türkiye), University of Gdańsk (Poland), University of Naples Federico II (Italy), and Sustainability Collaborative (Sweden), the project unites academic excellence, industry insight, and sustainability expertise to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time - the green skills gap.

Why GREENFIT?

The world urgently needs a workforce equipped to drive the shift to a circular and low-carbon economy. According to the LinkedIn Global Green Skills Report, demand for green skills is growing nearly twice as fast as supply. This shortage affects industries’ ability to innovate, adapt, and remain competitive under new EU regulations like the Green Deal and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

GREENFIT responds by developing sustainability experts and training programs that prepare manufacturing companies - especially SMEs - to thrive in a greener economy.

What we will do

Over the next two years, our international team will:

  • Assess sustainability skill gaps across industry sectors
  • Design and pilot innovative training modules for vocational and industrial contexts
  • Develop a multilingual e-learning platform to make sustainability education accessible to all
  • Certify 12 sustainability experts and deliver pilot training for over 100 professionals from 50 companies
  • Build lasting partnerships that embed sustainability competencies into education and business practice

Our Role

At Sustainability Collaborative, we bring our experience as the Nordic Office of The Natural Step, pioneers in applying science-based frameworks for strategic sustainable development. We will co-lead the design of the sustainability framework, help develop learning content, and ensure that training integrates both scientific rigor and real-world business relevance.

The Vision Ahead

Our shared goal is clear: to create a resilient, sustainability-skilled workforce capable of leading Europe’s industrial transformation toward climate neutrality. GREENFIT is not just a training program - it is an investment in people, purpose, and the future of industry.
